Hello my name is Rhonda. I'm so glad you stopped by, now pull up a seat and get to know a little about me.
First, I am a wife, I have been married to my best friend for 40 years. I am a mother of 3 beautiful daughters, and a grandmother of 8 grandchildren.
Second, I am an artist, a furniture re-finisher, re-painter, restorer of fine treasures and anything else that has to do with restoration! I love to go junking and I have always been a treasure hunter, from the time my husband and I got married I knew I wanted a nice home but we didn't have two dimes to rub together! So, learned how to furnish a home from garage sales, auctions and second hand shops out of necessity. These days, I do it because it's an obsession!
Third, I have never had any formal training, everything I do has been self-taught, out of necessity and curiosity. And I must say that I am very proud of myself for that!
I have dabbled in decorative painting and I specialized in Pennsylvania Dutch art, painting large chests and small heirloom boxes for local shops in my area. I also tried painting large canvas floor cloths, but quickly decided that we didn't have room for that.
I have painted Rufus Porter style murals for customers and giraffes and hippos for children's rooms.
I started writing this blog a few years ago to keep in touch with family and friends that we left back home in Iowa. My husbands job brought us here to Ohio 20 years ago and we left family and wonderful friends behind. One way for me to keep them "posted" on my current projects was to blog about them. They always seemed interested in what I was doing so I thought it was the perfect way to show them pictures of my latest projects and just every day things.
Today I write in my blog so I can show others that you can absolutely have a beautiful home without breaking the bank. All it takes is a little imagination, a little elbow grease, and a lot of paint, but it is possible.
I hope I remembered to tell you everything, I suppose you will learn enough when you start following my blog:)
So, thanks for stopping by, and I hope to hear from you from time to time.
